Bluebirds in our backyard are building a nest in one of the bird houses. They have been around for a couple days now. Yesterday I sat on the steps watching them in the early morning. The male bluebird found the little cup of meal worms attached to the bird house pole. I was delighted to see him feed on them. I have put out in past years and no one except woodpeckers and grackles seem to like. It was not long and both bluebirds were eating from the cup. I watched them intently hoping they would take up residency. During the morning hours they hunted our backyard for insects, ate meal worms and checked out two of the eight houses.

I did take some photos of the other birds coming to the feeders as well but my attention was mainly on the bluebirds.
A Blue Jay favorite photo of the day:
In the early evening I sat out again watching the blue birds. This time success, they started building a nest in one of the houses. I am thrilled! 🙂
Oh I can’t forget this photo, an adorable chipmunk stopped by looking for a free handout!
