Essex Woods, cuteness overload today
I took a walk into Essex Woods bog this morning and found ducklings. So adorable! There were at least 5 Mallard families, a Hooded Merganser with several babies and a Wood Duck Mama with just one baby. I also saw what might have been a female green-winged teal out in the middle. Moments earlier a male teal had swum by and disappeared.
As I started my walk in, I caught the glimpse of yellow flying. A pretty Yellow-rumped Warbler landed nearby and let me take some photos.
Taking a few more steps, I noticed a big sac of newly hatched ‘worms’ attached to a couple different trees. I don’t really know but am guessing they are eastern tent caterpillars. On my way out of the bog a Baltimore Oriole was feasting on the worms.
Below are some of my photos of the adorable ducklings, their Mamas and a few others. Remember, if you click on any photo, a slide show will come up with a larger view.
Just two more photos for you that I took at Essex Woods today.
Thank you for stopping by. I hope you have enjoyed my photographs and videos, do come back again soon. Comments are always welcomed.
