Heron, Egret entertainment in Newport early last evening, 8/16/2016. Arriving at the lakeside rest area about 4:45pm we noticed a lone Egret way out. It was hard to believe the lake was so low at that point for the Great Egret to be able to walk around in the water. A lone Great Blue Heron was at the shoreline on the opposite side of the lake.
It was not long before the Heron flew to where the Egret was. We figured it was checking out the competition.
The two followed each other around the lake for a good half hour at which time the Heron went back to its shoreline spot. The Egret was still walking around in the middle of the lake when we left for home. Below are a few of the photos I snapped while watching these two beautiful birds entertain us humans. All photos are cropped despite using a 150-600mm lens. Photos are in no particular order and can be seen in a larger view by simply clicking on any.
While I was sitting watching these two an osprey flew over.
It was a nice break from a routine day.
Thank you for stopping by. I hope you have enjoyed my photographs and videos, do come back again soon. Comments are always welcomed.
