Morning Snapshot, Ospreys. I arrived at this osprey nest in the nick of time this morning to see them exchange places. There are 3 different osprey nests I like to check on regularly, this one is what I call Number 2. At Number 1 site, a single osprey is nestled down in the nest. Number 3 site the nest was empty today. I do not hang around long for photos at any of the nests as I hate to disturb them.
Did you know?
“Ospreys are unusual among hawks in possessing a reversible outer toe that allows them to grasp with two toes in front and two behind. Barbed pads on the soles of the birds’ feet help them grip slippery fish. When flying with prey, an Osprey lines up its catch head first for less wind resistance.” Source: ALL ABOUT BIRDS
